Department of Microbiology at shri Shivaji College Akola is very well equiped Department and is highly envolved in the Basic and Applied research. Major areas of research includes Bacterial Genetics, Phytogenetics, Medical Bacteriology, Geographical genomics and evolutionary microbiology, agricultural microbiology, Bioinformatics and microbial genomics. The Department runs in to its maximum capacity with more than 500 graduate students, 22 Masters students and 7 Doctoral students working at the same time in the department. The Department is well connected with the broadband internet and have a very well organized Library with latest books and Journals, including the internet facility for the students, those students who works on bioinformatics are allowed to work on the main server computers which have all the necessory bioinformatics softwares and infowares.
